Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬-‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Pray for the faith and righteousness of Abraham who believed in God and all his capabilities. Don’t let self-doubt consume you or blind you from what you believe God can do in your life. ”Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification" (Bible.com, n.d).

Don’t let self-doubt consume you or blind you from what you believe God can do in your life.

Honestly this verse right here really hits home, the amount of times I've allowed self-doubt get the better of me. For as long as I can remember my battle has always been an internal one rather than an external battle. Self-doubt being one of my biggest challenges, whether this was in school, playing football, relationships, mentoring you name it. Self-doubt at times robbed me from seeing my full potential. That feeling of not being enough can be really challenging to navigate, it took a lot of self-reflection, therapy, and self-love to identify I was more than enough. It is so important to remember God's unconditional love for us. I try to not allow the fear of "what if" get the better of me. What if I fail, what if I don't make it, what if people laugh at me, I could literally do this all day. Instead, I try my best to change that "what if" into something positive. What if I kept on going, what if God already spoke this over my life, what if this was part of my destiny etc. In the same verse it says "Yet he ("Abraham") did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised  (Bible.com, n.d). When we walk in faith anything is possible, don't run when things get hard, stand firm and believe in the things that God has already spoken over your life. Most importantly let love lead your heart and not anger, self-sabotage, or hate.

A verse that has recently helped me navigate my setbacks, worries, as well as my relationship with God is 1 John 5:14. "If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us"  (Bible.com, n.d). Before I used to get so frustrated when the things I prayed for did not come to past, I would continuously pray for it and nothing will happen, I felt like that's what I needed or wanted at that time in my life. At times I believe that when I received what I asked for I eventually realised that this wasn't in fact what I needed after all. Eventually this made me turn my desires over to God,  God humbled me and through this my perspective about prayer changed as well as my perspective about my wants and desires. It is so easy to push for the things we want even when God didn't give us the green light on that thing. This is why God encourages us to not lean on our own understanding as shown in proverbs 3 5-6. "Trust in the lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths" (Bible.com, n.d). When we pray about something it is ask God if this aligns with his will, he knows exactly what we need in our lives. God knows our future and we don't. Making God the focal point of your life will change your mindset drastically. Spending time with God has allowed me to identify where my thinking can be flawed and likewise it has also made me identify my strengths. I am far from perfect and could never be perfect, but this has been a game changer for me. Instead of pointing my finger at what others have done to me God told me I should look at myself first. Looking within helped me be accountable, it helped me find my why even when it was uncomfortable and it healed me from thoughts that were made up from hurts and setbacks.

I will leave you with this, "Ask God to reveal to you areas of improvement. When dealing with self-doubt try to self-reflect by spending time in your thoughts. Really dig deep and find the root cause of your self-doubt but most importantly spend time in prayer, meditation, journalling and actively speak to someone about your struggles.

I hope you enjoyed this read, God bless and lets have a good week!
